If you are looking for a romantic escape in the New Forest, just a short walk from the pub and open forest, then look no further.
Situated in the grounds of an impressive country house, the Goat Shed is the stylishly renovated ground floor of a 19th century barn, with a kingsize four poster bed, claw foot bath and woodburning stove. Deer roam through the gardens, and our wood burning stove makes nights in perfectly cosy. A great spot from which to explore the forest, or simply relax in comfort.
THE LOCATION
• An easy walk to three country pubs and a lovely cafe.
• Just a few minutes' walk along a quiet country lane to the open Forest. Or walk directly onto a public footpath from the gate by the main house (turn left for the Royal Oak, right for the Three Lions!)
• Surrounded by farmland with grazing cattle and horses; the forest ponies, donkeys, cattle and pigs roam freely the other side of our cattle grid.
• Bikes and helmets available to borrow (no extra charge). We have six bikes shared between a maximum of six guests on site. No need to prebook bikes - just help yourself throughout your stay.
• If you are coming on public transport we are more than happy to give you a lift from the bus stop!
THE ACCOMMODATION
• Four poster kingsize bed with medium firm mattress (new Sept 2024)
• Wood burning stove (upgraded Sept 2024) with logs, kindling, firelighters and matches all included - we are happy to top these up as required (no charge)
• Fully equipped Kitchen with toaster, kettle, induction hob, oven, microwave and dishwasher.
• Espresso machine with a selection of capsules provided. Plus a cafetiere.
• Smart TV, Robert's DAB radio, a selection of board games. You will be logged in to the Goat Shed's Netflix account.
• Roll top bath situated in the bedroom area
• Separate ensuite shower-room with fabulous rain head shower, toilet and sink.
• Fast and reliable WiFi - we have fibre to the main house, and a wired connection to the Goat Shed - 400 mbps+
• Pet free accommodation.
• Welcome basket including eggs from our rescue chickens (eggs subject to availability - NB due to the Avian Influenza regulations as at Nov 2025 we are sadly not currently permitted to supply eggs to guests).
We are happy to provide a vegan or gluten free welcome basket on request.
Outside, there is a cobbled patio area with seating and BBQ, as well as the large lawned front gardens (around 1 acre) with further seating areas and sunset views over neighbouring farmland.
Local wildlife includes a large herd of deer that roam the walled gardens and neighbouring farmland, so take care when driving down the tree lined drive way.
On arrival you will find tea, coffee, biscuits and a few little gifts to help you settle in.
